"A Home Run." Simply stated, this movie is the glue that was desperately needed to resurrect and breathe new life into a franchise that had run out of steam with the latest TV series spin-off (sorry - it has to be said). This movie finds an appeal for an entire new generation, and at the same time remains loyal to the existing story line - what more could you possible ask and hope for? Great movie, a great watch, great characters and excellent delivery! Thank you Mr. J.J. Abrams!

Well worth the watch. The movie makes you leave the theatre elated. Cast was awesome... loved the references from the old shows. Great character development - can't wait for the next one!

I found the movie really entertaining...a little cheesy but it actually worked for the film. Interested on what they will do with the franchise from here..JJ Abrams is da man!!!

The characters were both flavorful and convincing, the story was interesting and effectively illustrated, and the special effects are the best I've ever seen. I highly recommend this film to existing sci-fi fans and newcomers alike. 5 Stars

Some of the other reviews have stated that the movie doesn't follow the Star Trek universe that Gene Roddenberry created. They are partially correct. This movie represents a ‘reboot’ similar to what was done with ‘Batman Begins’. Does this have its negatives to the movie, for the diehard trek fans it will. For those that can except the change or are new to the Star Trek universe, this should be a great movie experience; for those that can’t accept the change, concentrate on the amazing special effects! If you have the opportunity to see this on IMAX, do so.

The tribute it pays to the main classic characters is commendable. Each is like a younger less experienced some times brasher version of his/her counterpart in the original series. Each new depiction reminds me with a warm nostalgia of what I like best about the originals; while, at the same time losing what now seems dated or campy.

Anyone writing about how horrible this movie was are obviously die hard trekkies that cant except change. This movie blew the rest out of the water.

FANTASTIC. This is a must see movie. This is the only movie I have ever been to when the audience gave out a huge round of applause at the end. Everyone around me talked very positive about Star Trek. I cannot wait until the next movie comes out.

This is very entertaining, funny and engaging movie. Of course, the temptation to compare with the past series and movies is strong... Despite a few "canon irregularities", once you see what happens in the movie, you can't help but realize that you do have to press the reset button and accept that it is a reboot after all! Forget about ship proportions, the color of this or that, the temporal directive, etc. Just open up your mind and enjoy the ride... because there are many more to come and the Trek family can only get bigger that way!
