I loved it! Anyone who appreciated the stage production will definitely love the way Joel Schumacher has transferred it to film.

it was ok, but there were too many flashbacks and there was stuff in the movie you`d NEVER see in the play..things like the graveyard fighting, and the phantom threatening to kill raoul...a bit scary but the music is just as enchanting as ever.

It was the best Christmas present I could have ever imagined. It was superb. I absolutely love the theatre version and have seen it done 5 times over the years. I was a bit apprehensive about a film version, but I also wanted one done. I was concerned it wouldn`t give me the same chills as the theatrical version, but it did. I`ve seen the movie twice already and plan to see it again before it leaves the movie theatres. Mr Lloyd Webber and Mr Schumacher should be applauded for this magnificent piece of work.

Not quite as astonishing as the stage musical, but a wonderful adaptation nonetheless. Emmy Rossum was perfect as Christine, and Gerard Butler turned in a fiendish performance as the Phantom. However, Butler does not have the best singing voice, and it would have been nice to see a more capable singer in this large role. The set design and art direction were over the top, with many beautiful colourful sets. The critics who provided scathing reviews are completely wrong, as others have said. This movie was one of the best of 2004.

Absolutely amazing film version of an all time masterpiece. True to the stage show, they took this from the stage to the screen and back again. A.L. Webber has something to be very very proud off. Do I hear picture of the year?

This movie was beautifully done. The cinematography was spectacular. The classic story of the Phantom of the Opera was depicted wonderfully in this adaption. The movie definitely lived up to the theatre production. 5 stars!

Stunning! I waited a long time for this film. Almost perfect. Someone who could sing opera should have been cast in the Minnie Driver role as she did not sing. An older phantom perhaps - but forgiveable. An A!

Just saw Phatom of the Opera today. It is as captivating and spectacular as the Broadway hit. The costumes and sets are lavish and absolutely breathtaking. Emma Rossum is perfectly cast in the role of Christine and my heart swooned for Gerard Butler who played the Phantom. The music is fantastic and Minnie Driver is absolutely great in her role as La Carlotta. I give this a 5 star rating for this very impressive film.
