As a fan of the musical I didn`t think the movie could live up to the live perfomance, but I really enjoyed it and going to see it again!

I have seen the play once and the movie four times. I thought Gerard Butler and Emmie Rossun were absolutely fabulous. The music is spellbinding and I loved the movie.

I loved it! I have always liked the story and music--I`ve seen the stage version a few times, both in the USA and in London. So I was really looking forward to the movie. It did not disappoint. I thought the 3 leads ( the Phantom, Christine, and Raoul ) were even better than the original London cast members. Gerard Butler was a very powerful and sensuous Phantom and Patrick Wilson was a worthy rival for Christine. I was totally impressed by Emmy Rossum----her beauty, acting skills and marvelous voice----how could one person be blessed with so much! I will buy the DVD!!!!

I had no expectations of this movie when I went the first time. I had not heard of the screenplay and even if I had I dont usually like opera. But I must admit this was a awesome movie. I have never felt this way about a movie in a very long time. I have now seen it 7 times and am amazed I like it as well as I did the first. The music is haunting. There is no other word for it. Absolutely beautiful.

I thought it was terrific. It strayed very little from the stage version.I saw it with my daughter on opening night and we are going to see it again tonight closing night. Beautiful......

We saw POTO movie today for the first time and plan to see it many more times. It is different enough from the stage play to keep me alert to the changes, while filling in many of the blank spaces the theater version didn`t let us know about, plus the sound system in the movie theater was much better than any of the 4 stage plays I have seen. The greatest music EVER!!! I think it is or will be my favourite movie of all time- Sonny

The acting was terrible. The Phantom is supposed to evoke pity, not loathing. I felt nothing for any of the other characters who were one dimensional and bland. See the original black and white film for an enjoyable plot and acting. I wanted to really like the film as the musical was great but I could not delude myself.

This is the most brilliant, sensuous and beautifully haunting movie I have ever seen! I thought "Moulin Rouge" was awesome, but this movie tops it by far. Gerard Butler is just one of the finest and most handsome upcoming actors in the business. Emmy Rossum sings like an angel and is an amazing actress. High praise also to Minnie Driver(so funny) and Patrick Wilson(handsome). I was really upset this movie got no Oscar nods for the top awards.
