It was one of the worst movies I've seen in awhile. My mom, my daughter and I were the only people in the whole theater. Not what we expected at all. I guess you just need one heck of a strange imagination to enjoy this waste of money.

Loved this movie. Made me feel like a child again. My 6 year old son also connected with the main character and the story right through the whole movie. It is not a waste of money at all...it is a beautiful masterpiece

Okay, so I didn't expect this to be nearly as mellow as it turned out to be, and that was my turn off. The protagonist is a brat, and I honestly felt no sympathy for him in times where the film asks you to. The dialogue and screenplay is not deep, nor is it something that a kid can truly grasp. I walked out of the theater feeling depressed for the rest of my day; not only because of the melancholic vibe, but also because it's just simply a crap movie.

Saw the movie today. The book was my all time favorite as a child. The movie has tainted the magic of this excellent children's book. Not appropriate for children of any age. Very disappointed.
