This movie was the worst movie that I have ever watched. It bored me to death and I feel ripped off for paying to see this piece of garbage. This movie made no sense.

It is not for young children. It is filled with a sense of malaise as opposed to wonderment. It does draw directly from some of the lines in the book, if you are paying attention.

I can see where the younger types might not necessarily like the movie. I agree it wasn't designed for kids of the age who would have read the book, or had it read to them. To me, it seemed the monsters were different aspects of the boy, and his life. In the end, he dealt with them by going home. Maybe that was the message.

It was dark, but my son and I enjoyed it. I did not find the monsters scary. In fact, by the end I found myself forgetting they weren't real creatures.

Aweful. scary and dumb,a dysfunctional monster family with annoying personalities. Gave me the jeebies and none of my 4 kids 5-17 were impressed
