Worst movie I have seen this year. I appreciate the beginning of the story revealing a truly depressed child who really misses his father. However, the way the rest of the story played out made the movie HORRIBLE!!! Some bright spots when the kid learnt some lessons about himself. But overall a horrible story line. Especially the ending the kid does not learn a lesson except that if you act like an A$$ you get rewarded with cake.

All of the haters of this movie appear to be people who did not do any advance research - this wasn't a movie made for children, it was targeted to adults and is meant to be a deeper thinking person's movie. You are supposed to leave and reflect on humanity's raw emotions and the way that life isn't easy and what its like to be a lonely child. It was never designed as a disney film!! I loved this movie and was very touched at the beauty in it but I would never show this to my child as it was not appropriate for little kids due to its melancholy tone and deeper message and somewhat scary scenes. Perfect for adults who appreciate intelligent film making.

I took my son and 4 other boys to this movie and if I had not brought extra kids, I would have left. The movie was violent and depressing and the writters were clearly On SOMETHING! Horrible movie, horrible message. Not even worth renting. BTW I have NEVER written a movie review! lol.
