  Okay, after watching this, I am seriously convinced most of the people trashing this didn't actually watch it. They just saw the very idea of its existence, saw the casting choice and everything and just wrote it off as a bad cash grab while ignoring the fact that it's directed by the same mastermind who gave us Paddington. And while it's not perfect, this is anything but soulless. Clearly the people behind this had a real vision and weren't just making this to cash in off of people's nostalgia. Now, I'll admit, I did groan a bit when it was revealed this was clearly taking influence from the film that isn't true to the book, but it's well done. The songs aren't anything too special, but they are relatively good, though there are at least a couple I felt could have been cut. And honestly, the lead actor is a lot better than people are giving him credit for. It's not just recycled Wonka. He brings his own thing to the table, and he's actually quite charming in the role. Seriously, guys, give this a real chance. Don't jump to conclusions based on promotional material.

  If Citty Citty Bang Bang , had a baby with Hello Dolly , bad music , every 8 minutes, elevated because it's 2023, but really, weak , not hinous, just very , very weak . Enough said .

  They should have cast Tom Holland, he's an excellent dancer/singer. Timothee just doesn't cut it. His singing is really weak and his dancing is non-existent. It would be been a really good movie with someone who could sing and dance. The way it is now, is just weak sauce.

  This movie stinks. That walking mop(Chalamet) is unacceptable as Wonka. The visuals are bad and the story is dumb. I hope this fails.

  Look, I really shouldn't be giving a score for a film that hasn't come out, but really, guys? Can't you wait until it releases instead of jumping to assumptions based on an actor? This looks fine from the trailers, and if the critic scores are anything to go by, it's actually a good film. (Granted, it is dumb to use RT as a reason to praise anything, but still) I mainly wrote this just to say you really shouldn't judge something off of its trailer or its appearance. That's unfair and you know it.

  If Depp based his WONKA on Michael Jackson, then Chalamet's inspiration was Pauly Shore. Thank goodness for Hugh Grant!
