Preparing to write their screenplays for their upcoming films, married couple Chris (Vicky Krieps) and Tony Sanders (Tim Roth) retreat to Fårö, the island where their favorite director Ingmar Bergman lived and worked.
Coming to a place where students, writers, and designers come for inspiration, Chris finds it hard to create a great piece of work while raising a family at the same time. As the two directors continue to work on their screenplays, they begin to see parallels between their work and their relationship.
