Sebastian Stan should have had more screen time
Not bad biopic of country music star Loretta Lynn. It takes some liberties with the truth, although Lynn herself has lied about her past (she was not 13 when she married as she claimed, but 16). The great Sissy Spacek is the reason to watch this. She is great as always. She does her own singing and sounds uncannily like Lynn. Costar Beverly D'Angelo also does her own singing as country music legend Patsy Cline but D'Angelo doesn't fare as well in this department because she can't come close to replicating Cline's Beautiful and unique singing voice. (the makers of the Patsy Cline biopic SWEET DREAMS smarter and had the star of that film Jessica Lange lip-sync to Cline's original recordings) The film is unfortunately brought lower by the unwelcome presence of hillbilly ball-gargler Levon Helm, but he doesn't sing any Band songs, thank god.
If you like yokel music then The Band is for you. If you like songs about Hillbilly rape, incest, tainted moonshine, and having webbed toes then you will love this. If you are chromosomally deficient, then The Band is your favorite band. If you've ever had sex with a close relative then you will love The Band. And if you love The Band you have the absolute worst taste in music ever. Look into indoor plumbing.
Where are the real people? These are the goody goodies.
Don't listen to the negativity. I went with a couple buddies and we all agreed that we would watch it again in the future. It does help that you should watch the Incredible Hulk as it ties into that movie a lot. I was happy to see that it did because that was not a bad start to the MCU back in 2008. It was the first one that started the tradition of the end/mid credit bonus scene. I rather liked that the Leader was pulling the strings and Tim Blake Nelson was not as campy as he was in the Hulk. I hope he comes back and has an even better plan. I also hope that they expand on the Serpent Society. Our only grip was the President's security chief who was ex-Black Widow. I'm sorry, but she was NOT believable in the least. Extremely bad casting and otherwise totally useless character. Everything she did, could totally have been done by his personal Secret Service woman and that would have been cool twist to learn she was an ex-black widow at the side of the president! And FYI, the CGI was good! I don't know what people are complaining about. Remember this is actually all done in the light. Not night time reveal which you can hide any imperfections. Watch for yourself. It was not top tier, but it was above average and a good way to introduce Red Hulk along with x-men (Adamantium).
Harrison Ford as the President and then the Hulk was cool but overall it's a tired story line. And talk about Biden being too old... Harrison Ford is yikes! And it totally misses the original Captain America. You can't just give away the shield and the name and the stars and stripes and make someone else the character. I mean there have been a dozen Supermans but they are still the same character for Pete's sake. The story line is familiar from many old stories, too. It was nice to see it again but do new some time.
This movie is captures a moment in time and very effectively I loved it.
All new! Sure to thrill even the most hard to please fans of the genre! Groundbreaking special effects, and Ford is a superb villain!
An amazing cast. Great script. A must see movie.
The true facts are shown as is and Vicky has lived as Chaava. Amazing performance
