Lost my interest early on. Not DiCaprio's best acting. Story was ridiculous.
The reason this movie wasn't good was because he never had a chance. He's wearing a bracelet, it wasn't said it was for tracking him, but come on. He was tracked so easily every time that it was just frustrating to watch him be chased every couple of minutes. There should have been some anticipation, some times where he did lay low but everytime, they were there within minutes. Only good thing about this was Glen Powell.
Nice decent movie without much violence, drugs, swearing, and booze. Good scenery and good acting and good storyline
Good direction
64/100 This has nothing in common with the U.S. version of "The Grudge 2". As a sequel to "Ju-On", it lacks the impact of the first film (probably because it's not new) but still a very worthy addition to the series with some really disturbing creep-out moments. -- DrNostromo.com
25/100 ** Spoiler Warning ** A woman returns to her estranged father's home after an accident and strange things begin to happen. The trailer is terrifying but the film is terrifyingly slow ...they doled out tiny little bits of information, along with a few scary bits, so they could stretch it out for 90 minutes. Secondly, the sound would whisper so you had to crank the volume all the way up ...just in time for them to slam you with noise that'll blow out your windows. I guess they were afraid you'd fall asleep. In the end, you realize that everything they've had to endure was futile. Oh, boy! -- DrNostromo.com
75/100 A young man's search for a cure to a curse, received when he killed a boar demon god, leads him into the middle of a war between humans, beasts, gods and demons. This full length Japanese anime was far better than I expected it would be. The characters were very complex, the motives of all the parties involved made perfect sense, making the whole concept of doing the right thing a very fuzzy area, the animation was fantastic, and the story was varied and full. Quite nice. -- DrNostromo.com
32/100 Frodo! Say it ain't so!! Actually, far from being typecast, Elijah Wood has grabbed quite a variety of roles including this one as a totally psychopathic - but likable - manikin maker and does a fantastic job. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing about this dark and very uncomfortably slow remake of the 1980 film. Apparently, someone didn't think the original was depraved enough. -- DrNostromo.com
81/100 In a house containing a slaughtered family, a nude female half buried in the basement is discovered. Then things get really strange when the autopsy begins. A completely original atmospheric piece that totally creeped me out ...which isn't easy to do anymore. The slow but progressive series of unnerving events without any real explanation as to what's happening until practically the end was well done and left me wondering, "What could possibly happen next"? Good stuff!! -- DrNostromo.com
53/100 "Tales from the Darkside" was a fairly entertaining, tongue-in-cheek, horror anthology TV series. For a movie, however, you'd think they would have turned it up a few notches ...especially with the talent backing up the writing. But, basically what we have here is 3 stories that are no different than watching 3 episodes of the TV show. It's not bad - in fact, I enjoyed it for what it was - it just wasn't anything special. - DrNostromo.com
