Wuthering Heights

While this movie was well cast and well acted, clearly the director felt a need to add overly sexualized and fetishistic elements that detracted from the original story about love, pride, and obsession. The original story had its share of shocking moments (digging up your lost love 10 years later to view the corpse - look it up - belief in ghosts, etc.) but, instead of these gothic elements, we get chaining up women - great (read sarcasm)! The love and obsession came through, but in an art-imitating-life moment, you will find yourself wanting to cover your youth's eyes, as Heathcliffe does to Cathy at 1 point so she doesn't view a bondage scene in the barn. These are poor directorial choices. They say sex sells, but I think we're all bored of this base content. Know your audience! Otherwise, it would have been a good film, with some deviations in script (such as the father and older brother characters being combined). The scenes of luxury at the Linton estate were satisfying, but Cathy was happiest running wild on the moors in her feisty relationship with her childhood friend.
