Audiences who watch this movie expecting a scary violent horror movie just because Stephen King wrote it may be disappointed. It's more of a dramatic character study with tons of dialogue. It could be performed on Broadway quite easily.

This movie is full of superb performances (acting, singing, dancing). The history is interesting and is especially moving given current events. I’m going to see it again.

Viet Nam, WWII, wasted lives in real life......the parallels or young men being thrown into the meat grinder for the "good" of the State are striking. But it isn't just about the individual vs. the State/collective; it's about the journey and the relationships formed between young men (see "Stand By Me" for details.....) from different situations. If you don't see the bigger picture with this flick.....you aren't paying attention.
