I’ve seen this movie twice and am upset I can’t seem to find it again!! I saw it in Paris & was excited for it to come here to see it again! Each time brought different people all of whom loved it! It is visually stunning, directed perfectly, acted brilliantly (foreign language) Johnny is as always magical magnificent enchanting mesmerizing! He is King Louis He embodies regal and complex! Still as only Johnny can, he speaks flawlessly in french but speaks even more volumes with his eyes, gaze, smile,grin, demeanor, posture, movement, i don’t know many or any that can invoke the emotions he can while saying little or a look & ooze sensuality taking you to places that something like “50shades” works extensively hard at but Johnny just uses a gaze & removes not a stitch of clothing, actually here wears more than most! His screen presence is magic & takes u to far places in your mind, joyful, sadness, excitement, disappointment, fantasy, sensuality & a mini moment of dreams or escape to another time for a brief enchanting experience! Wonderful cast gorgeous location & Johnny Depp is Cinema, what has come out of late has been mostly drivel, mindless, bad acted, empty, one or two silliness which is good for fun at times but far from good or award seeking!!! It’s a movie to watch truly & his voice should never be dubbed, subtitled for those non french speaking and left exact for educated french speakers as it’s proper perfect old school french & Johnnys voice is velvet baritone commanding regal sexy!! Id give it 10 stars ?? if i could & note those Ive brought with me vary in age from 25,30,45,58,62 & we ALL loved it!! (Side note for Barbie we were same demographic with a 20 yr old that time also and we all stood up at the end looking stunned saying WTF was that mindless garbage and insulting message?? colorful, good songs, funny at times, mindless, memories of barbie playing.. all yes but ridiculous empty extremely insulting messages
