The actor who plays the drummer is way too clean cut. He does things that drummers do not do. 1. He forgets his stickbag but has a drum key. No drummer I know has been in this predicament. 2. He wears socks-The short girly kind. 3. He is shy. Every drummer I have ever met is the social butterfly of the band. They are always fun to be around. 4. He owns an iron. 5. He doesn't have a roomate 6. His sticks look brand new even after beating the drums for hours on end.7. He uses flexible bandaids on his wounds. Every drummer I know either toughs it out or uses Duct tape.

Outstanding film in every way. Okay I love jazz and drums, so I'm biased - but if the drumming was poor, the acting bad, I'm more of a critic! The horns and reeds were professional in every way, a real experience for music lovers! J.K. will win the Oscar and should.

A pretentious, meandering overblown episode of Fame with delusions of grandeur. Performances and direction are merely perfunctory. Nothing, save the fantastic music, is worth the price of admission. Save that money and buy some jazz. You'll be happy you did.

The BEST film of the year so far! From the acting to the story to the direction to the editing! This is a fast paced, entertaining film! Anyone who's ever had an inclination to pursue music as a career or just loves music should see this film! It better not be snubbed by the Oscars!

GREAT MOVIE. J K Simmons should be a shoo-in for an Oscar as should the young, FABULOUS drummer be nominated for BEST supporting actor. What an unexpected thrill this movie is. How wonderful, terrific this great this movie is. I recommended it to many friends who weren't going to see Whiplash.....they did, and loved it also.
