  Very Strong acting. Great themes that are usually hard to express through what is mainly a Science-Fiction movie. Fantastic! I'll be first in line to buy the dvd!

  anyone who is stating that this is a good movie needs to watch more movies. This movie was pure crap. The story was just boring and lacked any intelligence and just ended up being a cheesy monster movie in the end. How completely lame.

  This movie was a huge disappointment. What a complete and utter piece of crap. This is the kind of dribble that 8th graders can write. There was nothing at all impressive about this movie. I was totally mortified that I was the one who suggested to my friends to see this utter piece of crap.

  Loved it. The actors are very talented children. Great action, different story line. Cross between Stand By Me and The Goonies. Worth seeing

  The movie was great except for 4 things: It was obvious what the thing was, it was too loud, unnecessary swearing, and the ending.

  J. J. Abrams' pays homage to Spielberg in this engaging adventure/comedy set in the 70s. Look closely and see elements of Jaws, ET, Indiana Jones, and the Goonies skilfully intertwined as young teens deal with a seemingly-malevolent alien, a government cover-up, and coming-of-age romance. Entertaining and fun for the whole family!
