  Saw this movie tonight at the Laemmle, and absolutely loved it! It’s laugh out loud funny in parts, teary at times, and overall enjoyable. The story begins as UCLA college student Alia comes home for the summer. Home is in an exclusive affluent community in New Jersey, where wealthy Indian families “keep up with the Joneses”, and are constantly trying to “one-up” their friends and neighbors. Alia wants no part of this, nor is she interested in her rich friend that everyone assumes she will marry. During weekly community parties, Alia soon finds out secrets about her parents that will change everything. I hope people get out and see India’s Sweet and Spices before it disappears, it’s a gem!
