Poignant and so unexpectedly funny, Brad's Status is my favorite movie of 2017. Stiller's character is so relatable and he gives one of the best performances of his career as Brad, a late 40's man dealing with insecurity and a midlife semi-crisis over his shortcomings and a self-aware tendency to compare himself to his peers. It is even more compounded when he makes a cross-country trip with his prodigal son to scope top-ranked colleges, leading him even envy his own kin. Mike White's directing/writing is so spot on, and he is masterful when it comes to creating of slice-of-life stories and characters.

Ben is excellent and the story line was very spot on about the reality of life! This was a little slow but very good!

Excellent movie. It shows how failure is wrongly measured now days. Success = famous and rich; otherwise you are a failure.

The movie is supposed to be a comedy. Instead it was depressing and strange. Not at all believable. So many close ups of Ben stiller looking strained. No real story - just an uncomfortable mess with no conclusion. I wanted to leave in the first 10 minutes. My friend wanted to stay and see if it would get better. It didn't. We should have left. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Explains why there were only 7 people in the theatre.

I was pleasantly surprised, and enjoyed this movie. Not your typical Ben Stiller movie. It's not really a comedy (as stated), but rather a reflective movie on life (the grass isn't always greener on the other side).

This movie was slow moving but by intention. Maybe Ben Stiller and I are the same age, but it truly makes you reflect on what his character is experiencing and struggling with emotionally. His character needs to go through a number of experiences in order to truly "frame up" the proper perspective that he should have for his life. It was a very elegant presentation, without the added drama and side plots of most movies. I understood exactly where he was at in his jadedness at how the world rewards those who's careers are "less than noble" in their idealism to make the world a better place.

Very slow; fell asleep; people walked out. Chinese girl was in a third of the movie, but no mention in the cast.

This movie may have been well done and well acted but that doesn't stop it from being extremely BORING! Ben Stiller pays a self absorbed white male going through a mid-life crisis. Despite his successful marriage and career, he is jealous of the success of his college friends and he is too self-centered to realize that maintaining his friendships requires effort.
