The movie captivated you every minute, either with the action on the screen or the scenery.DiCaprio played his part so well.

Although the scenic shots of the mountains/wilderness were nice, the storyline was very boring, dragged on wayyyy to long. As for Leonardo, have no idea why he is being considered for a best actor, as all he did for 90% of the movie was grunt, moan, drool and eat raw meat from carcasses of dead animals! In the end, this movie was lousy, and 3 hours of my life that i will never get back. I am doubly annoyed as i missed an amazing NFL playoff game (Green bay VS Arizona) to watch this bunk!!!!

This moving certainly makes you think about the struggle of survival in the early days. The cinematography was gorgeous. Tom Hardy as the antagonist was excellent. Leo's survival was over the top of believability, but certainly makes you aware of the struggle of early times. I would be looking for the nuts and berries and a plane home!

Too long, boring after the bear attack !!! Could not understand the voices most time ? Over rated in so many ways and DiCaprio had more lives then the 9 my cat has !!! Academy award should go to the Bear, only action in the movie that was believeable !! Waste of money !!!

The scenery in this movie is worth the cost of the ticket. The special effects were amazing. Leo was fantastic and deserves the Oscar!

POSITIVES - acting, wardrobes, makup NEGATIVES - drags on - 1.5 hour movie packed into 2.5 hours, Disjointed scenes, inaccurate portrayal of use of flintlock -- can't run around with a flintlock, can run around and not have the powder fall out of the pan - cant instantly shot multiple shots without reloading - Can't be that sick and cold and survive especially after floating down a river in the winter -- Overall a very strange movie. Would not recommend.
