The battle with the Indians in a forest setting was realistic. The battle with the bear was memorable. Tom Hardy's performance equaled Leonardo's. The ending was too indefinite. For me the movie did not arouse deep emotions.

Waste of time. If I want nice scenery I will buy a National Geographic. No story line and totally unrealistic.

Life just 200 years ago was harsh and difficult for those individuals moving through the frontier. The movie used a different landscape and season to make the scenes more rugged and challenging

There was a waste of 2 1/2 hrs !! Minutes of action sequences connected by long periods of silence and tedious boredom. The scenery is spectacular, the acting is good... when something actually happens. And what is with this movie and water ?? It's winter, and everyone seems to want to jump into the river at every opportunity. PVR this thing when it comes on TV. That way you can skip through it

2 1/2 hours of pure brutality. Man against man. Not sure why it garnered so many awards. Not much dialogue....for the most part DeCaprio spent 2 1/2 hours grunting or groaning. The old historical theme in North America of whites against first nations...the pure brutality watching innocent women, children and men being slaughtered in vivid colour unconscionable! Time to move past the old history into the 20th century! Another slap at portrayal of first nations as savages. Move on. If anyone were the savages here it was the army and bands of self proclaimed itinerant quasi soldiers Add to all the brutality the fact that all the action was unrealistic. Wading through frozen rivers and la

Awesome movie. I was lost in it from the start until the very end. I hope it wins Oscars.

I loved this movie. The acting was very good, and very much loved the depiction of early settlers, the Indians, and nature itself, absolutely incredible bear attack, will never forget, as well as the True depiction of life as it actually was for the white man, the Indian, and the invaders, will see again, very well done!

This was an amazing movie! If you're into "hollywood" type movies and endings, then move on. However, if you're into talented acting, gripping human drama, breath-taking landscapes - then see the movie. It was extremely well done.
