i am not sure where the lazy canadian work ethic came from, as news to me. i live in calgary, and i really do work 10-12hrs/day during monday-friday, and more often than not 1/2 to full day for 1 day in the weekend. when i go to nyc, i find it slow paced, and wonder about where the ny minute comes from? :). i do not support this stereotype in the movie, so i will simply not be seeing the movie. simple as that.

lol as a canadian living in the states, i think they meant to say americans are lazy! i have only lived here for one year and it's so depressing at the lack of motivation people in this country have..... sad...i thought the movie was good though, except for that typo lol!!!!

I do try not to take most comedy seriously but I draw the line at having my work ethic insulted. I work long hard physical hours to provide for my family and the Canadian work ethic remark ruined the rest of the movie for me. It was not something I wanted my children to hear from a kids movie and I deeply regret spend my HARD EARNED money paying to see this movie. Yes it may have just been a joke but it was in extremely poor taste and judging from the responses it has been getting I do not think I would be wrong in stating that fact.

Loved this movie!! Funny, funny! The fellow Canadians that were 'insulted' by the Canadian remarks should stop being so serious!! There are canadian writers working on this movie and they are just poking fun at themselves and Canadiana -lighten up. We have the most amazing country in the world, which is highligted our health care act, our distintive society in Quebec and our sense of humour to poke fun at ourselves. Be proud and happy, what in the world can you be complaining about in comparision with what's happening outside Canada. Great movie all all ages!

i am canadian, and yes they did poke fun at canadian sterotypes, laugh it is not ment to be a seriously! we do not laugh at ourselves enough in canada. it is true that quebec is most socialist province in canada but i like qubec in canada and i very proud of things that come out of quebec like cirque de soleil! i love all the madagscar films. if you can not take a little teasing about national sterotypes then you can never laugh at anyone poking fun at any nation; if a canadian was poking fun at himself or his countrey would you be as offended, most would just laugh and say you know maybe we are a little like that! also if it seriously offended people that you do not have to see film, and ca

can't imagine why dreamworks would feel the need to insult canadian's and french work ethics in a childrens movie. doesn't make much sense really when you consider they know ,they will be showing the movie in canadian theaters, its as the old saying goes "biting the hand that feeds you ".i saw it today with my grandchildren and being 5 and 7 the remark was missed by them, but every adult in the theater was stunned. i'm guessing that dreamworks thinks our work ethics are so bad that none of the profits will come from canadian theater, since we only work 2 weeks a year and can't afford a trip to see a movie ! maybe some canadians and french will chose to pass on the next dreamworks film
