Technically and artistically outstanding, dialogue excellent, the actors did an outstanding job, proof that unknown locals can often perform better than multi-millionaire egomaniacs. However, the sight of a very poorly endowed eskimo running naked across an ice field is quite disturbing.

A wonderful movie, I saw it in Europe and was very impressed.

Atanarjuat simply would not have been made without the support of the Canadian government, and frankly, that would not have been a bad thing. The story, orriginally a children`s fable, would have been best served as a children`s film. It is simply not complex enough to justify three hours of poor acting, and directing that reminds one of second year film-school. Not a film for the average, or serious, film goer.

Excellent movie. Althpough it was long, it was not boring. It was interesting to see how the Inuit lived long ago.

Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner comes off as a documentary, consistently eschewing polished camerawork in favour of jittery, on-the-fly cinematography. The acting, with amateurs in most of the roles, feels authentic. But all of that should be secondary to a compelling screenplay, which Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner is sorely lacking. On a sociological level, the movie might hold some interest. But for the average moviegoer, it will likely hold little appeal.
