With a notoriously difficult book to bring to the screen, Denis Villeneuve has created a masterpiece. Staggering visually, narratively, and superbly acted, this film is an awe-inspiring epic that will be cited as one of our greatest sci-fi films, meaning it will be considered one of our greatest films. It's what big-budget movies are supposed to be, and further proves that auteur-driven films often produce the best results. Where David Lynch was able to walk, Villeneuve was able to run. A massive, intelligent film. We desperately need more of them.

For clarity, I LOVED Dune I. I understand that taking a book and putting it on screen is difficult and there has to be allowances for creative license. Being a Tolkien fan, I accepted those and loved the LOTR movies. But for the same reasons, I disliked The Hobbit for the excess license taken that was NOT TRUETO THE BOOK! Dune II was NOT TRUE TO THE BOOK. If you like/love the book, then be wary. Stilgar is a soppy fanatic. Chani is a bitchy skeptic. And Lady Jesica is a cold hearted, manipulative puppeteer. The final straw? The foot stamp at the end... Really? So juvenile. Susie-Dune Lover.

Good video effects and storyline. Superb casting, directing and visual effects. Dialogue could be a bit louder and not muffled. It's violent so don't take your kiddies there. Good entertainment for adults.

Seeing the movie once was enough. No desire to look up Part 1, which I missed. Yet, if the sequel supports the main characters getting back together, I might be in. It was an unusual Love Story. My favorite part was the love story angle. The fantasy of the desert worms was not my favorite but did support suspense and action. The idea of killing the soul for water was creepy.

Within the first 20 minutes a peaceful advisor has their throat cut and their head smashed in. There are roughly 4 more scenes like it. Most of the movie is about political maneuvering and gorilla warfare involving tactical positioning - gun fights, bombs and knife fights. If you are sensitive, easily bored, or below 13, this movie is not for you. If you appreciate these things, know that the movie also offers fantastic music, breath taking visuals, truly moved by the acting , amazing costume design. Absolutely worth seeing this on a big screen.

The person who gave one star due to the violence, needs to take responsibility for bringing the kid in the first place. Ratings are there for a reason and people who ignore them have no right to complain. The one star ratings given really have nothing to do with the quality of the movie. It's a fantastic movie. Go see it. Leave the kids home.

For the person under this comment: there´s a reason why the movie is rated PG13. It is not for fragile little children. The first part had fight scenes too, so what did you expect? How braindead one has to be to give low rating just because their kid WHO ISN´T SUPPOSED TO WATCH THIS MOVIE in the first place was scared of some violent scenes? Cinematography, acting, VXF, sound editing...nothing matters because a kid was scared. Give me a break... The spider monster in Part 1 was far more disturbing than the fights. But somehow that was OK for the kid when he was even younger.

Based on part one, we decided to take our 11 year old. This was a failure on my part. The movie was incredibly violent and I had to take my son out halfway through. His face told me all I needed to know! I didn't enjoy it very much either. The violence overshadowed everything else. My son said he liked the worm riding part, lol.

Although I missed watching Part One first... The storyline & action sequence of all thespians & extras didn't drag on. Each scene was well played. Well worth the entertainment value. Rebecca FERGUSON; Zendaya; Lea SEYDOUX; & Florence PUGH were all stunning!! Austin BUTLER's performance was a stand alone throughout all his scenes --- kudos. The rest (all) of the casts were spot on in their respective characters.
