In 1915 on the Côte d'Azur, Auguste Renoir is in his twilight years. He's still mourning the loss of his wife, and tormented by arthritis pain. He's sick at heart when he gets news his son Jean has been wounded in action. But when a young girl enters his life, the old painter finds her youth and beauty rejuvenating.
Full of life, red-headed Andrée will become his last model. Jean, now back at home and convalescing, he too falls under the girl's spell. Despite his father's opposition Jean falls in love with this wild spirit... and as he does, despite being battle-shaken, within him a filmmaker begins to grow.
