REVENGE OF THE EARNEST is an experimental comedy special short film at the intersection of stand up, dance, and documentary. Filmed in the heart of downtown Hamilton, performer Kevin Makins takes the audience on a journey towards sincerity by exploring big issues of our day including our shifting Canadian identity, the breakdown of language, and why it’s impossible to remember people’s names. Accompanying Makins is dancer Skye Rogers, who gracefully navigates one of Canada’s most iconic streets and invites viewers to witness a changing city at a crucial time.
Weaved together under the skilled eye of director Shawn Lovering, these two performers balletically play with time and space, creating a comedy special that is both pretty and poignant, hopeful and hilarious.
