Brooklyn couple Clay (Ethan Hawke) and Amanda Sandford (Julia Roberts) decide to go on a weekend getaway with their two children, Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie).
When they're at the beach and a tanker goes off course, landing on the beach, they can't believe it. Then the wifi stops working, including phones and TV, so they can't find out what's happening. When two strangers — George Scott (Mahershala Ali), the owner of the house, and his adult daughter, Ruth (Myha'la Herrold) arrive at night saying that NYC is experiencing a blackout and they're seeking refuge, Amanda is suspicious. Soon they all discover there's a cyberattack that is getting scarier by the minute, forcing them to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.
