Big News From Grand Rock Overview

Leonard Crane (Ennis Esmer) is the editor of the Grand Rock Weekly Ledger, a struggling paper facing bankruptcy in a small town where nothing newsworthy ever happens.

He searches relentlessly for a great story to bring back readers. He finally finds it, but not in the real world—he begins getting his stories from old movies he finds in a video rental store. The plan seems to be working as one made up story after another brings excitement and readers back to the paper.

The hoax inevitably unravels when big city reporter Lucy (Meredith MacNeill) heads to town to follow up on the crazy news that's coming out of Grand Rock. Just as she's about to expose Leonard, they stumble on evidence that one of his crazier stories may just turn out to be true.
