In the small German town of Winden, a 15-year-old boy named Erik goes missing under mysterious circumstances. When a second, younger boy named Mikkel also disappears, residents become alarmed. Numerous searches turn up nothing.
However, Mikkel finds himself in the 1980s, where he meets younger versions of his parents and other townspeople. When an unidentified child turns up dead in the present, who may be from the past, the linked series of events expose the small town’s secret sins.
