JT LeRoy
trailer
Brooklyn-based author Laura Albert (Laura Dern) invents a literary persona named JT LeRoy and writes an "autobiography" based on LeRoy's childhood experiences of poverty, abuse and prostitution. The book becomes a bestseller, so when the media wants to interview JT, Albert agrees to do phone interviews, claiming the author is reclusive.
However, Laura eventually needs to produce a real, live JT, so she convinces her quiet, awkward bisexual sister-in-law, Savannah Knoop (Kristen Stewart), to pose as the author. With the use of wigs and baggy clothing, Savannah transforms herself into the gender-fluid male author.
