For No Good Reason is a documentary about Ralph Steadman, a British cartoonist best known for his work in collaboration with the American writer and author of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hunter S. Thompson.
This visually creative film follows Steadman’s career, starting in the early 1970s up to today. Director Charlie Paul spent 15 years meticulously putting together the footage and the animation to match Steadman’s expressive illustrations. Through Johnny Depp, the audience is presented with the portrait of the artist’s life, his friendships, his art and passion.Exploring the connection between life and art, For No Good Reason is an uplifting film with contributions from Terry Gilliam and Richard E. Grant, as well as music from Slash, Jason Mraz, James Blake, All American Rejects and Crystal Castles.
