Joe
trailer
Hard-living, hot-tempered but kind-hearted ex-con Joe Ransom (Nicolas Cage) is in charge of a group of men who clear trees for a large lumber company in Mississippi. When Gary (Tye Sheridan), a determined 15-year-old, asks him for a job, Joe reluctantly takes him on as part of the crew.
Joe soon becomes a father figure to Gary, whose father is a violent alcoholic. Gary finally runs away from home and goes to Joe to seek refuge. But Joe has a history of troubled behavior himself, and makes a somewhat unpredictable protector.
Based on the novel Joe by Larry Brown.
